4 ENERGY SAVING TIPS

Updated: Jan 26, 2023

As the price of electricity in Singapore rises, we would do anything to keep the bills low. Not only saving energy could save your money, it could also save the earth from global warming.

We are pretty sure that you know the basics of energy saving for the air conditioning system. We know that routine maintenance and choosing the right BTU can help with saving energy.

Here are more energy saving tips that could save you more bucks.

STOP FLIPPING THE SWITCH

It is recommended to turn off the electrical equipment when not in use. This is not in most cases.

However, if you leave the room for a short time and come back later, it is not recommended to turn off the air conditioner in this short time. The more often the switch is turned on or off, the higher the power consumption. It requires burning more coal and other fossil fuels that contribute to global climate change.

Not only will it save the environment, it will also save you some money.

AIRCON AND FAN COMBO

As weird as it sounds, using your air conditioner and ceiling fan could actually save some energy. This is a powerful tip to reduce the power consumption of your air conditioner. Ceiling fans help increase the cooling capacity of the room.

Fans don't necessarily cool the room, but they move air throughout the skin, making it feel cool at high temperatures. This allows you to set the thermostat high without sacrificing comfort. This allows for faster cooling and allows the air conditioner to maintain the set temperature faster. Given that air conditioners consume more energy than fans, ceiling fan helpers will definitely help reduce the power consumption of air conditioners.

16 DEGREES OR 25 DEGREES

Proper use of the air conditioner can help keep you cool while reducing air conditioner power consumption. Unless you're a polar bear, you don't need to set the air conditioner to 16 degrees Celsius.

In fact, such a low temperature setting increases energy consumption. This can make you feel uncomfortable and wake up with a runny nose the next morning.

In order to achieve a comfortable level of room temperature, the optimal air conditioner setting would be at 23-25 degrees Celsius.

Putting your air conditioner at low temperatures not only wastes power, but also makes the room too cool and uncomfortable.

TO COOK OR NOT TO COOK?

Baking , cooking and even taking a hot shower can actually raise the temperature. This is even more true during the hot days. Just like when the weather is hot, the air conditioner has to work harder. It's probably inevitable, especially if you're in the home baking business.

Don't want to give up on your love for baking but also don't want to overwork your air conditioner?

Install exhaust fans in the bathroom and kitchen. It helps to remove the hot air faster. Therefore, reduce the heavy load on your air conditioner to keep the room cool.

CONCLUSION

It may seem like little steps. However, you could actually save about 5% of the electricity bill with just a clean air conditioner filter. Just imagine adding up all the little steps it could make an impact in your bill.
